Properties Buck the Property Trend – Are Key

Property Yorkshire.Rural properties set in areas of rare beauty have always been high on anyone’s wish list. And houses for sale in truly wild, but protected, areas of Britain are becoming increasingly valuable, according to property estate agents. That’s against the backdrop of a property market that has fallen 0.9% annually in 2007-2008, according to one UK finance house.

But a twist has been added. While the setting might be traditional, the interiors in these country houses are at the cutting edge of design and style.

Britain’s breathing spaces

There are growing signs that the exodus from British towns is continuing and when they do move, families want to live in a rural property in an unspoilt area, far from busy roads, and the hubbub of modern life.

The top areas are often national parks – known as Britain’s breathing spaces. These include the famous Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, as well as Dartmoor and Exmoor in the South West.

Hi-tech surprises

But while there are opportunities galore to indulge in traditional country pursuits such as hunting, shooting and fishing on the doorstep, country properties in the most demand house some hi-tech surprises, according to property estate agents.

Private cinema rooms, gyms and wine fridges are commonplace and are taking the place of libraries, orangeries and wine cellars.

People want the clean air and beauty of the country with all the modern sensibilities and entertainment possibilities more familiar in New York’s SoHo or London’s Clerkenwell.

A trend born in celebrity hotels

It’s a trend that has probably been started by the re-invigoration of the country house hotel from dowdy aunty’s retreat to urban sophisticates’ hideout.

The rise of hotels-cum-private members’ clubs such as Somerset’s Babington House and Scotland’s Skibo Castle, where popstar Madonna and film maker Guy Richie married, have set a trend for cutting edge luxury in the heart of the countryside.

Ian Potts, spokesperson for Rics, said: “If properties are left unchecked and damages are not routed out and repaired straight away, it could cause more extensive damage to the property and to the wallets.” He went on to report that before taking any steps to repair damage to their home, consumers should first call out a chartered building surveyor. It was claimed that such an official will be able to do a “full property evaluation in order to ascertain the full extent of the damage to the property”. From this, a surveyor may be able to judge how much a home has been impaired and what construction work needs doing.

Consumers looking for an effective way to fund property repairs may wish to consider applying for a home improvement loan. This type of homeowner loan may not only help consumers to pay for materials but also to hire professionals to assess what work needs doing and others to carry out this out. In addition, such a loan could be of assistance to consumers wishing to revamp their property. Earlier this year, research carried out by Yorkshire Bank indicated that a significant number of people are looking to increase privacy within their homes and gardens.

One way to finance the implementation of this, which could include fitting semi-opaque windows or a security system, is to take out a homeowner loan. Find more information about Boston MLS here.
