Before purchasing a small gas grill, there a few things you need to bear in mind.
The main reason people buy small gas grills is because the space they will be cooking in is limited. So the obvious first thing to do is measure the space you have.
Small grills are mostly used on patio’s, veranda’s, small balconies, and courtyard gardens. So measure that space, give yourself extra to move around the grill and then you will have a reasonable idea of what space you have available.
Another great thing about small gas grills is that you can take them out with you, to a friends or the park or the beach. (Just in case you can’t bare to be separated from it). If you are thinking of doing this, then you need to know how small they are when they are folded. Will you be able to fit it into your car, or carry it on public transport?
Lastly, what about storage, where will you be storing your grill when not grilling. Your grill will last a lot longer if you have somewhere out of the reach of the elements, where it can be kept when not earning it’s keep.
Having bought your grill, think about buying or making a cover for it. This will pay for itself as it will no doubt lengthen the life of your grill.
Make sure to register your grill with the manufacturer as soon as you get it home. You should do this so that:
1. You are not guaranteed by the supplier, until you register your grill.
2. The manufacturer will mail you with product updates and news.
3. You can be contacted immediately if there are any problems found with the particular grill you have purchased.
Re calls are not bad in fact they are positive and show that the manufacturer listens to complaints and issues about their product and takes responsibility for them. Think of re-calls as positive, you will usually get a full refund or a brand new replacement.
Caring for your grill. Now the tedious part is that you should clean it after use. That is, if you really want to get value for money. Keep it clean and shiny and you will get many years out of your grill. Oh yes, and make sure you use the cover, they do not work very well when left in the box.
How much should you spend on a small gas grill. Well that really does depend on your budget, however for maximum functionality you really do not need it to sing and dance for you with bells and whistles. Just make sure it does what you really want it to do, and fits where you want it to go.
Lastly, you can have fun all year round with your grill. Cooking outside on a cold clear day with a cold beer can be just as good as on a hot summers day. There’s something special about a barbecue in winter, all wrapped up warm.
