This is a smell dogs do not like and they will soon stop barking to avoid the smell.

Boredom, anxiety, excitement and stranger alert are the some of the reasons why your dog will bark. If your dog is barking excessively then there is a good chance that there is something in your dogs life that is bothering him or her, and barking is the only way of expressing that.

They are good in the sense that if you do not have the time to train your dog, then its a good way of stopping the barking almost immediately. However, they do need to stop being used when the excessive barking stops. Its normal for a dog to bark a little, but once it gets to excessive then the dog needs to be stopped.
